Create a book design in category of adult fiction Norwegian wood by Haruki Murakami.
(Other books were inspire by the design award competition were created to accompany the series)
The aim of this project was to create a book cover for a chosen book - this project focused on Norwegian Wood by Murakami.
Initial research was focused around understanding the plot so that key points could be drawn as the basis of which to base the cover on. All ideas from this point, focused on one or multiple of these fundamental components of the novel. From initial sketches, a few designs were chosen to develop further with the use of illustrator and photography, these helped to experiment with different shapes and elements to develop the composition.
The breakthrough in completing this piece came with the use of print making techniques, in addition to those previously mentioned. Together, these techniques helped to bring texture and clarity to the design, and the cover became a good representation of the novel.
