The brief was to secure a placement with George at Asda by designing a pair of children’s shoes using current trends and fashion for the appropriate audience.
To carry out research, I went to a space centre after deciding to focus on space as a theme for the pattern. I determined that my audience would find a simple pattern more appealing than a more complicated one. Colour was also very important, a use of blue and pink was initially decided to make the shoes gender neutral, highlighting this current trend.
The final design encompassed simple shapes, rockets and stars, and used contrasting colours to attract the audience. For the layout of the design, I used mock-ups to show clearly what the pattern could look like on a product and placed it within its context. The design was successful in securing a placement with George at Asda.
